#210 the Abyss

2.5"x 3.5"(ACEO) oil on gessoed paperboard NFS

I don't keep paintings often, but I think I need to keep this art card. Something about it really speaks to me. The name is from the Nietzsche quote "When you stare into the Abyss, the Abyss stares back into you." Yeah I know, kinda heavy theme today but there's something kind or honest about his boney frame and patchwork hair and beard. I'd better hold onto the old man for as little while.

This piece is intriguing.
I admire your ability to sort through vast visual information to arrive at the defining characteristics of a subject. You rock brother.

Yes Jeff, there is something quite profound about this painting. I almost think it could lead to a series of paintings - daily or otherwise. Even the undefined handling of the hands is significant. Yes, keep it for now.
