#212 Amber Beer

2.5"x 3.5"(ACEO) oil on gessoed paperboard Sold

I'll never get tired of glass. I used to think it was so complex and that there was a lot to figure out. It's liberating to find that glass, transparency and everything else is just made up of spots of color. If you can just put the right color spots in the right places, the thing just falls together and you dont have to worry about making it go round or making it look like glass. Which is great for me becase I dont want to work while I'm painting. I just want to see which is fun.

You have really been making some visually strong paintings, this is one I must have. Perspective, light and dark contrasts are beautiful!

Nice work. Painting glass is a great way to learn the principles of Charles Hawthorne, ie, painting color spots. Cheers!
