#187 Pensive Shan

2.5"x 3.5"(ACEO) watercolor on paperboard SOLD

Here's a little art card (ACEO) I painted from a photo of an old man sitting in the morning light at the "Shan" village (from our Thailand trip).
This time I tried some water colors (painted thickly). I liked it better that the acrylic because I could rewet and the mixes don't get that sticky feeling as they are drying. Problem is it's easy to pick off paint that already there because it rewets so easily (Doh!). I think I'll try some water soluble oil next because I still feel like I'm battling lighten fast drying times.

A beautiful painting Jeff, really so full of feeling. Amazing that you did this in water colour. Yes, the water soluble oil is good, feels a bit like acrylic to use (to me anyway) but you get the richer colours of oil and as you say, no "drag". Still take about 5 days to dry though.

Wonderful little painting - I love the way you simplified the image by using beautiful brushwork - VERY nice!
