#287 - Dog Impression

5"x 7" oil on masonite sold

This was fun. The challenge was to not hold onto the form too hard and end up drawing. Instead just try to see the spots of color change and put them in. Let the form make it's self after that.

I love this one. There is an essential dog-ness about it that your strokes capture. Essence without detail is something special that a painting can do like few other things, and this one does it.

Hey Jeff, Nice piece! I really dig the abstract on this, the fact that its representational is a bonus.

Wow! I love this. I struggle with being too representational. You've done a stellar job. Great wide brushstrokes. I feel movement too. And a sweet sly look in the eyes done seemingly effortlessly.
