A nearby playground lit up by the evening sun. I like the way it makes a lot of the plastic pieces glow.
btw-This Friday is Third Friday Culture Crawl in Durham NC. My solo show reception will be at Bull City Arts Collaborative (click on Upfront Gallery). Some of my paintings will be on display there until the end of June. :)

i keep coming back to see this one,,, there's something about it....hmmmm....maybe its the fact that its not youre everyday "painting subject" and also there's something mesmerizing about the interplay of bright primary colors played off the stark dark grayish green trees in the background. its almost like a dream world or a 'spare bedroom' if the subconscious was a house. Artistry my friend! youve done it again.
As an artist myself, I am still amazed that other artists can take things so pedestrian or ordinary as a playset and turn them into a thing of beauty. Nice!

As above comments also said: mostly you use average, daily stuff to paint and transform it in something very special. Your style, your paintings are very original because of your brushstrokes and the bright colors. I can't explain it, but it's great i think. Lots of succes with your show!

I've spent a lot of time today perusing your site and I just wanted to let you know that I really apreciate all the information you have included, especially the "things you've learned" and about your setup etc. I have done a lot of figure drawing but am just starting out on a serious painting stint - so have been thirsting for this kind of information. And beyond all that - I find your art very beautiful! What a pleasure to go through all your images! mike- Thanks Man. That was insightful and helped me to view it in a different light. Sometimes we're so close to it we can't see can't see the big picture.
rob ijbema - The kids weren't working for me compositionally so I had them...eliminated. Ha! no it was after school hours, so no kids. Plus hangin out on a playground with the kids there would make me feel creepy.
