#290 - Golden Hour Road

5"x 7" oil on masonite   Sold
This keeps reminding me of an older painting of mine. This new one seems looser and the strokes more deliberate. I can see that I'm trying to get the texture from the brushstrokes instead of the the gessoed ground. Same kind of aesthetic though. Funny how somethings change and some stay the same.

You are such an intuitive painter but you also manage to capture mood as well as observing brush strokes. Like the way the light falls on the path just at the horizon begging the question - what's over that hump in the road?
ps. liked the earlier painting too for its more calm and measured statement. Both offer different experiences for the viewer.

Sorry I'm late in responding, but I am so WITH you there. I've been "texturing" my canvases, but want to get to where I can get the texture in the strokes instead. I think you've done a wonderful job with that! (oh yeah the composition/color/etc is grand too!).
